As the recession of the late 2000s has caused financial strains on American's wallets, many have come to question how exactly the economic crisis has affected the University-what with college tuition high and rising and all

One observation which must be addressed is the University's hosting of a variety of noted speakers.

Berry apologizes

Over the past two weeks, information regarding the situation that happened in the Student Government Association office has gotten blown out of proportion, and I would like to clarify my involvement.

What happened in the SGA office is as follows: letters were carved into the desk and then further engraved by marker, a painted portrait of a former president and former vice president was ripped, a picture of myself and the former president was torn, information hanging on the door was ripped down and several cabinet members' pictures were removed from a glass-enclosed bulletin board outside the office.

While I appreciate Mr. Berry confessing to his crimes, I feel that his allegation that the situation has been 'blown out of proportion' is ridiculous. Mr. Berry needs to realize that a great many people care that a former vice president of the SGA vandalized personal property, and it is a story worthy of any attention the Chronicle or anyone else may give it.
According to Broderick, he came across the term after spending some time on urbandictionary.

In the midst of preparing for graduation and studying for finals, graduating students took time out of their busy schedules to vote for their favorite teachers for the 2009 Teacher of the Year Award.

"I am honored and very happy to win the award. Students and colleagues have been generous with their congratulations and compliments, and that feels really wonderful," said Mary Anne Trasciatti, professor of speech-communication, rhetoric, and performance studies in the University's School of Communication, and one of the recipients of the Teacher of the Year Award.

Sandra Perl is not a child of Holocaust survivors. She did not lose any family members during that time. She admits that at first she felt she had no right to talk about the Holocaust. "My experience seemed pale, secondhand," she said.

Despite this, Ms. Perl's trips as to Innsbruck, Austria, site of tremendous Jewish persecution during the Second World War, enabled her to establish dialogue with descendants of Nazis.

As the days dwindle down to graduation, I think of all the things that have happened to this school, from the debate last October to the University's medical school, and I feel more and more grateful for the education I've received and people I've met along the way.

I'm a music major and graduating senior, and tonight was the music department banquet at the Coral House in Baldwin. On the bus travelling to the dinner, people were offering toasts to various people and faculty, and someone got up and said "To Jerry Berry's re-decoration!".

"As I was floating down unconcerned rivers/I no longer felt myself steered by the haulers," says Arthur Rimbaud at the start of "The Drunken Boat," a poem about being lost at sea. These two lines serve as the epigraph for "The Limits of Control," a spiritual odyssey from Jim Jarmusch, one of the pioneers of the independent film scene in America back in the 1980s when independent filmmaking meant more than a quirky release from Fox Searchlight.

There is more to the music industry than just the artists and band members-there are also the people behind the scene who make things happen. For any students interested in this, MEISA would be the club to join.

MEISA (the Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association) is a club for students who are interested in all different aspects of the music industry, from writing about music to publicizing.

Name: Raven Epstein

Year: Senior

Major: English Literature

How would you describe your collection?

The focal point of my collection in the gallery is a tile mural. The inspiration for it came from a Latvian folk tale I remembered and rediscovered. I also have on display 30 out of the 50 porcelain bowls I did for my independent study, three sculptures which speak to the theme I tried to communicate with my Rose and some other thrown forms that I felt fit in.

If Jacob Sirotkin, Mr. S or Syrup Snob ring a bell, you're likely familiar with this accomplished and amiable junior from Vermont. And no, he's never indulged in any maple syrup drinking contest, though he will tell you that it's hard to find a good opponent in Hempstead.
