The show began with a whole lot of hooting and hollering from the audience. The Danceworks show is consistently the event each semester that the most students come out to support and are most enthusiastic about. This comes as no surprise because this group pulls out all the stops and throws all of their energy into each number. It's obvious that they do this because they love it. Full story

'Undeclared History' forged from Hofstra past

As a part of Hofstra University's conference on Vietnam, "Into Sunlight: The Impact of War on the Social Body from the Vietnam Era to the Present," the Department of Drama and Dance put on a performance of Undeclared History. Written by Hofstra Alumnus Isaac Rathbone, the story is based on Hofstra during the height of Vietnam protests between the years 1968 and 1972. Oral histories obtained from Hofstra veterans, activists faculty and journalists were drawn upon for the play's story and characters. Professor of Drama and Dance Cindy Rosenhal directed this enjoyable look into Hofstra's past.   Full story

When James Blake performed for the first time in America at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, he left the crowd in silent awe with a performance heavy in bass, electronic beats and unbelievably smooth vocals.

 

'War of the Roses': Henry VI plays adapted for Shakepseare Festival

When you write a show that is pushing four hours, you have to make sure that it is entertaining, engaging and easy to digest. Especially when it is Shakespeare and especially when it is a complex history. Royston Coppenger successfully hits these marks in his adaptation of Shakespeare's King Henry VI trilogy, War of the Roses. With a talented and passionate cast to bring Coppenger's work to life, War of the Roses takes the audience on a thrilling ride through British history.
